On October 1st and 2nd, the California Association of Directors of Activities (CADA) Area A hosted the annual NorCal Student Leadership Conference at the Yolo County Fairgrounds in Woodland, CA. More than 1,500 students and advisors gathered for an inspiring day filled with leadership networking, motivation, and fun!
The day kicked off with CASL (California Association of Student Leaders) leaders energizing the crowd through a morning program packed with icebreakers and team-building games. Following this, students attended over 20 unique workshops led by Area A and B volunteers, CASL leaders, and high school students. Workshop topics, presented by Area A members Kristin Patten, Bridgit Moore, Jessi Lindell, Corissa Stobing, Angela Dizon, Leslie Gower, Andrew Smith, Cameron Chitwood, Jordan Orosco, and Stephanie Mason, included rallies, lunchtime activities, effective communication, building positive spirit sections, and more.
CASL President Katarina Dragasevic led an impactful session titled “The Road to Failure,” exploring how failure can be a powerful catalyst for growth. Donovan Rudish, a CASL Board Member, presented “The Better You,” encouraging students to focus on self-improvement.
For middle school attendees, the conference offered sessions tailored to their unique needs. Presenters Jennifer Campbell and Nate Whitaker joined CASL Board Members Savannah Nails and Natalie Navarro in sessions focused on setting goals and recognizing often-overlooked voices on campus.
Keynote speaker Kate Garnes captivated the audience with her powerful presentation, while Kim Karr and Erin Tobias collaborated on a large-group session that reinforced the themes of teamwork and inspiration.
During the lunch break, SOS Entertainment kept the energy high with music and a mini dance party. Despite the heat, students embraced the moment, filling the fairgrounds with laughter, dancing, and excitement.
Area A’s NorCal Student Leadership Conference was a tremendous success, bringing students together to learn, lead, and build memories that will inspire them throughout the school year and beyond.
